RAW, VUNERABLE, UNIQUELY YOU
One truth that made such a profound impact in my life in the early stages of fighting the storms l faced as a young girl, as l struggled to make sense of it all and had so many self doubts, even wondering if l was normal, was finding and accepting this truth:
"Every test that you have experienced is the kind that normally comes to people. But God keeps His promise, and He will not allow you to be tested beyond your power to remain firm; at the time you are put to the test, He will give you strength to endure it, and so provide you with a way out." 1 Corinthians 10:13
If you have weathered a storm, be willing to be open, raw, honest, and vulnerable. Oh the beauty in allowing our pain find purpose in lifting another and bringing hope. If you are going through a storm, take heart and do not faint. I am praying that you will breakthrough and be free. If you are in a wonderfully good place, lend your heart to the pain of another and let your empathy give them hope and strength.
I battled eating disorders and depression for 14 years. After the first 7 years of secrecy, things suddenly went very bad, and l sought medical and professional help (at a time l was seeing a team made up of a physician, a counselor, and a psychologist about thrice a week). However, my liberation came as l spent time in personal prayer, worship, and intense study of God's word to renew my mind. My road to deliverance and freedom was far from instant, and to be honest, l loathed the process. Yet, l wouldn't be where l am today, but for the process and the years it took for the Lord to shape me and make me into what He wanted me to be for His glory alone. Music was a big life saver for me. Till this day, music and worship are deeply ingrained in my soul. Music by Shannon Wexelberg, Wale Adenuga, The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, and Hill Song, brought me great relief during those dark days. I would later discover Selah and Ellie Holcomb. So find music that will turn your eyes on the Great Deliverer and lay it all down in Worship, especially when you feel so helpless and cannot pray, talk, or think properly. Here's one great music by Ellie Holcomb, "Wonderfully Made"
